In commemoration of the 194th anniversary of the legacy of the Liberator Simón Bolívar, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, held a significant meeting with the National Bolivarian Militia, where the historical role of this institution in defending national sovereignty and the right to peace was highlighted.

During the event, President Maduro stressed the importance of the Militia as the fifth component of the National Armed Forces, incorporated into Venezuelan legislation to strengthen the country’s defense.

The president, who also serves as Commander-in-Chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), announced the reactivation of all the fighting bodies of the working class throughout the national territory, emphasizing that this measure is crucial for ensuring peace and sovereignty in the country.

“If someone asked me what is the key to making peace, sovereignty, independence, and revolution of the twenty-first century irreversible? I would say: Empower and organize the people in an integral way, every day,” said President Maduro.

In his speech, he stressed that Venezuela is on the right path toward significant transformations that will benefit the most vulnerable communities, including fishermen, peasants, and indigenous people. This strategy seeks to strengthen popular participation in the defense and development of the country.

President Maduro also announced the holding of the first Elections of Bases, scheduled for January 26, 2025, a step that seeks to promote greater citizen participation in the political and social processes of the country. In an emotional moment, he recalled the warm welcome that Commander Hugo Chávez received from the people of Santa Marta, Colombia, sending a message of unity between the peoples of Colombia and Venezuela.

“From here we send a big greeting to all the people of the Republic of Colombia, brothers and sisters of Bolívar; always united Colombia and Venezuela,” he said.

Finally, the president proceeded to swear in the Combatant Corps of the Working Class, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening popular militancy and actively defending the rights and achievements attained by the Venezuelan people in their struggle for sovereignty and social justice.
